Italian forward Simone Fontecchio has explained why he chose to continue his career with the Miami Heat on a minimum contract, despite receiving more lucrative offers from other NBA teams.
“My priority was to stay in the NBA. Pat Riley told me he wanted to keep me, and then Erik Spoelstra made it clear that he truly counts on me. I have always felt their trust, even when I was out of the rotation. I expect to be a valuable player in the revamped Miami squad, which now includes Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Fontecchio stated.
Last season, Fontecchio appeared in 71 games for the Heat, averaging 8.4 points in 16.5 minutes per game while shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc.
