New York Knicks have temporarily halted the sale of individual tickets for the upcoming NBA season after a pricing error caused ticket costs to soar well above intended levels. Notably, the minimum price for a home opener ticket against the Philadelphia 76ers exceeded $1,000, with the average ticket price reaching $2,500.
A representative from Madison Square Garden told the New York Post, “We are pausing individual ticket sales for Knicks games due to a pricing mistake. We are reverting to last year’s prices with an average increase of 12%. Ticket sales will resume soon at the corrected prices, and all fans who have already purchased tickets at the inflated rates will be refunded the difference. We never intended to overcharge our loyal supporters and appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we resolve this issue.”
Fans who bought tickets at the higher prices will receive refunds reflecting the difference between what they paid and the adjusted prices, which include an approximate 12% increase over last year.
According to a source familiar with the matter, this pricing error is the first of its kind in the history of Madison Square Garden. Despite the price adjustment, Knicks tickets at the arena are expected to remain expensive due to rising demand following several successful seasons and the team’s NBA championship win in 2026.
