Carrick urges Manchester United to maintain focus and belief after setbacks
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has urged his squad to respond positively following two consecutive defeats. After losses against Manchester City and Brighton, the Red Devils face an away fixture against Fulham on Sunday, and Carrick believes securing a win will help the team navigate this challenging phase.
Carrick, however, dismissed the notion that the team is undergoing a serious crisis, cautioning against succumbing to external pressure.
“We are always learning—both as a team and individually. When you are building something specific, things don’t always go perfectly. Every successful team experiences periods where they need to address mistakes, overcome difficulties, and improve,” the Manchester United manager explained.
According to Carrick, this difficult spell was inevitable at some point.
“We have gone through a stretch where results haven’t been what we wanted. I expected this to happen eventually. We had a very strong run last season, and whether this occurred now or later, we would have had to face such a period,” he stated.
“What matters is how you work through it, how you respond, maintain focus, keep doing the right things, and believe you can get through it. We fully believe in that. It’s just one or two weeks where results haven’t gone our way. In some matches, tiny details made all the difference,” the Manchester United head coach added.
