Ukrainian Defender Illya Sydorov Joins Estonian Club Pärnu
Ukrainian defender Illya Sydorov has signed with Estonian club Pärnu.
Last season, Sydorov helped VEF secure the bronze medal in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LEBL). He appeared in 28 games, averaging 6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest.
Pärnu reached the quarterfinals in the previous season. Sydorov shared his thoughts on the move.
“I am well acquainted with both the Latvian-Estonian league and the Pärnu team. It’s an ambitious club that has always been tough to play against, especially on their home court in Pärnu. That’s why I’m very happy to now be joining this team.
The decision to join Pärnu basketball club came quickly. I’ve only heard positive feedback about the organization from people who have been here before. I also know that Pärnu is a small city, but a very beautiful and comfortable place to live. So it was an easy choice, and I’m looking forward to the start of the new season.
I want to help the team develop and have a successful season both in the Latvian-Estonian league and in Estonia’s national championship and cup competitions.
For me, personal goals have never been more important than the team’s objectives. Of course, every player wants to have a strong individual season, but my main aim is to win every game I take the court in,” Sydorov said.
