DR Congo goalkeeper Mpasi-Nzo reflects on valiant World Cup battle with England
DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi-Nzo, who nearly became the hero of the Round of 16 World Cup clash against England, shared his thoughts on how his team managed to compete against one of the world’s strongest lineups.
“I liked the team’s spirit, I liked the determination of every player. We fought with everything we had. We weren’t afraid. We tried to control the game. And in the Round of 16 against England, we left the field disappointed. That’s a good sign because it shows we performed at our best and came close to them,” Mpasi-Nzo told FIFA’s official website.
Throughout the match, the DR Congo goalkeeper made several crucial saves under intense pressure, but ultimately conceded two goals from Harry Kane.
