Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 champion, secured pole position for today’s Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying session. Due to the conflict in Iran, this race weekend is taking place in Malaysia at the Sepang circuit.

Verstappen claimed his 49th career pole with a commanding performance, setting a time 0.3 seconds faster than his closest rival on his very first flying lap. This marks the Dutch driver’s first pole position of the current Formula 1 season.

Starting second on the grid tomorrow will be Lewis Hamilton representing Ferrari, while the third spot goes to the second Red Bull driver, Isaac Ajar. The championship leader, Andrea Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes, managed only the fourth fastest time in qualifying.
