Soboslai Surprised by Kerkesz’s Decisive Goal in Hungary’s Win
Dominik Szoboszlai, captain of the Hungary national team, reflected on his side’s performance in their 1-0 victory over Georgia. The only goal of the match was scored by Miloš Kerkez.
“We had our chances. I was not satisfied with the scoreline at halftime. We played an incredible first half, created many opportunities, and should have scored more than just one goal. This fighting spirit is exactly what we need from everyone—we battle together and keep a clean sheet.
Kerkez’s header? That was the last thing I expected. Maybe he isn’t our most skillful player, but he gives his all on the pitch.
After the match, I spoke with Georgi Mamardashvili about my shot. I told him that if he hadn’t been there, I probably would have scored. It’s always nice to meet club teammates in international matches,” Szoboszlai commented.
Looking ahead, the Hungary national team will face Ukraine in their next UEFA Nations League fixture.
