A draw was sufficient for both teams, as it would have guaranteed their progression from Group J. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, with two goals scored deep into stoppage time. Both sides deserve credit for such an intense finish.
Riyad Mahrez’s brace earned him the Man of the Match award.
The biggest disappointment was felt by Iran, who remained in the playoff spots until the 96th minute.
