Arsenal Confident of Securing Newcastle Star Bruno Guimarães
Mikel Arteta has invested heavily in strengthening Arsenal’s midfield over the past three summer transfer windows, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Declan Rice joined from West Ham three years ago for a club-record fee of £105 million. His arrival was supported by signings such as Mikel Merino, Martin Submenendi, and Christian Nørgaard.
Despite assembling an impressive midfield lineup, Arteta remains focused on further developing the squad, with Newcastle’s captain Bruno Guimarães now in his sights.
The Brazilian midfielder has been on Arsenal’s radar since his days at Athletico Paranaense. The Gunners pursued him when he left Lyon in January 2022 but ultimately lost out to Newcastle.
Guimarães is currently impressing with his performances for Brazil at the World Cup, and according to Chronicle Live, Arsenal believes they now have a real chance to secure his signature by offering £65 million.
Notably, Bruno’s current contract with Newcastle includes a £60 million release clause that came into effect after the Magpies failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.
Reports indicate Arsenal initially negotiated through intermediaries with an offer of £45 million, which Newcastle rejected, as the club is unwilling to part with one of their key players.
