Bayer Leverkusen has strengthened its defensive line ahead of the 2026/27 season by signing Facundo Medina. The 27-year-old Argentine defender has joined the Bundesliga club from Olympique, committing to a contract that runs until 2031.
Although the transfer fee remains undisclosed by both clubs, sources from FussballTransfers.com estimate the deal to be around 25 million euros. Of this amount, 23 million euros will be paid upfront as the base fee, with an additional 2 million euros potentially earned through bonuses.
“With Facundo Medina, we have acquired a very experienced professional,” said Bayer’s sporting director Simon Rolfes. “His quality and strong character mean he will immediately become a key pillar of our team. He is excellent at winning the ball back—tenacious and aggressive.”
