In a tough encounter against Georgia, four players from the Ukraine national team received yellow cards, but for two of them—Oleh Ocheretko and Valeriy Bondar—these cautions proved costly.
After the match, Andrea Maldera commented on the situation:
“Unfortunately, we picked up two yellow cards that are quite difficult for us. These were for Bondar and Ocheretko, who will be unable to play in the next match. The players fought hard and went into duels when necessary. From that perspective, I didn’t single anyone out too harshly, but I repeat, the match was quite challenging.”
According to the Nations League regulations, any player who receives a second yellow card is suspended for the following game, with no exceptions or additional conditions attached.
