Hapoel Tel Aviv is considering yet another change to its nominal home venue.
Last season, following heightened tensions with Iran, the club from the Israeli capital relocated to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It was initially expected that their home matches for the current season would also take place in that city.
According to media reports, the Israeli team has officially submitted a request to the country’s authorities expressing their intention to move to an island. A similar move was previously made by Maccabi.
Hapoel Jerusalem, which represents Israel in European competitions, is also exploring the option of playing in Cyprus. The team originally planned to host home games in Serbia, but Cyprus is geographically closer to Israel and has a significant Israeli community that could attend matches in person.
