Chelsea to sign Spanish defender Pep Chavarria for €25 million
Chelsea are on the verge of securing another high-profile signing. According to Marca, the Blues have reached an agreement with Rayo Vallecano to acquire 28-year-old left-back Pep Chavarria.
The transfer fee is set at €25 million including bonuses. The English club successfully negotiated a reduction from the €50 million release clause originally stipulated in the player’s contract. Only final details remain to be settled before the deal is completed.
Chavarria enjoyed an outstanding season with the Madrid-based side, featuring in 44 matches, scoring once, providing three assists, and reaching the UEFA Europa Conference League final. The defender has already arrived in London to undergo his medical examination. At Chelsea, he will be the replacement for Marc Cucurella, who has moved to Real Madrid.
