Clément Lenglet Joins Benfica on Loan from Atlético Madrid
French defender Clément Lenglet is set to leave the Spanish league. Despite having a contract with Atlético Madrid until 2028, the 31-year-old has decided to seek a new challenge after four years in the Spanish capital. The experienced centre-back is moving to Lisbon on a loan deal.
Benfica’s management confirmed the transfer in an official statement: “Central defender Lenglet, aged 31, strengthens Benfica’s professional football squad. The French international has been loaned from Atlético Madrid until June 2027.”
The agreement also includes an option to extend the contract by an additional two seasons, through 2029. Now, Lenglet will aim to claim the Primeira Liga title with his new club.
