Ecuador Files FIFA Complaint Over Mexican Fans’ Pre-Match Disturbance
The Ecuadorian Football Federation has filed an official complaint with FIFA regarding the conduct of Mexican fans ahead of their Round of 16 World Cup match. On the night before the game, hundreds of home supporters staged a noisy siege outside the hotel in Mexico City where the South American team was staying. Local ultras employed drums, car horns, and fireworks in an attempt to deliberately prevent the opponents from getting any rest before the crucial knockout fixture.
In an official statement, the federation condemned the behavior, saying: “Such actions contradict the principles of fair play, equality, and unity that the World Cup is meant to represent.” The Ecuadorian Football Federation respectfully urges the relevant authorities to pay close attention to these incidents and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of our players.
