Cristiano Ronaldo Faces Possible Suspension and Fine for Leaving Portugal Squad
Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo may face disciplinary action for leaving the national team camp without permission, according to the Portuguese publication A Bola.
Under the disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese Football Federation, any player who abandons the squad without a valid reason or misses training sessions and matches risks a suspension ranging from one to six months. In addition, the professional footballer could be fined, though the penalties are relatively modest, between 500 and 1000 euros.
The incident occurred just before the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark. Ronaldo decided to leave the training camp in Copenhagen following the head coach Jorge Jesus‘s press conference and a conversation with the federation president. The forward later posted on social media that he would eventually reveal the true reasons behind his departure and wished the team good luck.
