Dalic: Croatia Must Improve Performance Against Ghana to Advance
Today, Croatia faces Ghana in the final group stage match of Group L. Currently, Croatia sits in third place, trailing both the African side and England by one point.
“Our upcoming match will decide whether we advance from the group, and we’re up against an opponent that has already secured qualification. They haven’t conceded a single goal and are very dangerous on the counterattack. To achieve a positive result, we need to perform better than in our previous two games and improve certain aspects of our play,” stated Croatia’s head coach Zlatko Dalić.
“We must be more responsible and stop losing possession so easily. We were somewhat sluggish. We fully understand the significance of this match and the quality of our confident and energetic opponents. It will be tough. We know our objective and will work on correcting these issues.”
Regarding potential changes in the lineup, Dalić added: “I constantly say there is room for improvement. We haven’t shown the level of play we demonstrate in training. This game is an opportunity to fix that. We have never made so many mistakes in passing and ball distribution before — these have always been among our strengths. Lately, we’ve been losing the ball too easily. We need to be more focused, more composed, and more confident in possession. I hope we can raise our level and reveal the true face of Croatia.”
