Desire Dwe Named UEFA Super Cup Player of the Match
The official UEFA website announced the Man of the Match for the UEFA Super Cup clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa (2-1). The honor went to Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doué.
Doué played a crucial role in both goals scored by his team. He first assisted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who expertly placed the ball under Aston Villa’s crossbar. Later, Doué himself netted the winning goal, calmly slotting the ball into the far corner after positioning himself perfectly for the shot.
Thanks to his contributions, Paris Saint-Germain secured the UEFA Super Cup for the second consecutive time. They remain the only French club to have ever won this trophy and, in fact, the sole French team to have competed for it. Marseille was set to participate in 1993 but was disqualified due to a corruption scandal.
