Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding Julian Alvarez, who is rumored to be considering a departure from the club. The Argentine manager urged the forward to focus solely on today’s match against Cape Verde and to set aside any thoughts about his future with the team.
Alvarez has featured in three games during the tournament but has yet to find the back of the net.
“When it comes to Julian, his immediate priority is today’s game. The best thing for him is to concentrate on that and not get distracted by all these stories circulating, so they don’t confuse him. Everything else will sort itself out, as it always does in life.”
Simeone went on to praise the striker’s qualities: “He is an outstanding player, the best footballer Atletico has had since he arrived. Without a doubt, he ranks among the top five players in the world… I have nothing more to add beyond what I have already said because he has conducted himself impeccably as a person.”
