FA Warns Manchester City Ruling Could Impact English Football Integrity
The Football Association (FA) has stated that the independent commission’s ruling on Manchester City carries “significant implications for the game.” This announcement came after it was confirmed on Tuesday that City was found guilty on all counts related to breaches of Premier League financial regulations spanning from the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons.
“The decision by the independent commission has serious consequences for the fairness and integrity of the game. We are carefully reviewing the ruling and its implications and will take appropriate action where necessary.
As the ongoing dispute between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club continues, we do not intend to make further comments at this stage. However, we will continue to monitor the situation closely,” the FA said in a statement.
Earlier, the Premier League declared that Manchester City had “systematically breached rules for nearly a decade.” Among the findings of the independent commission was that the club entered into “sham contracts” with several commercial partners as part of a scheme to conceal undisclosed funding exceeding £830 million.
