Abdelatif Herradji, a referee in France’s top football division, has become embroiled in a high-profile legal case. On Friday, the correctional court in Nîmes heard charges against the 40-year-old official, who stands accused of domestic violence. The incidents leading to the trial occurred earlier this spring.
The prosecutor has requested an 18-month suspended prison sentence for Herradji, coupled with a mandatory treatment program. Currently, the referee is under judicial supervision and on medical leave. The court is scheduled to deliver its final verdict on August 19.
