Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon has shared his thoughts on the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or. The English forward believes the award should go either to his club teammate Lamine Yamal or to his England teammate Harry Kane.
Gordon expressed his opinion ahead of the upcoming England vs. Spain match scheduled for Saturday. The 25-year-old striker praised the achievements of both players, singling out Yamal’s performances in particular.
“In my view, the Ballon d’Or should be awarded to one of these two players considering what they have accomplished. It’s incredible what Lamine Yamal has done at such a young age. He is on a completely different level. For a 19-year-old to play football like that is just madness,” Gordon said.
“If we talk about pure individual skill, for me he is definitely number one. But looking at last season, Harry Kane has equally strong arguments. His season was historic: the number of goals he scored and what he did for us at the World Cup. Both have serious claims,” he added.
At the same time, Gordon admitted he finds it difficult to make a definitive judgment on the contenders.
“I’m not really the person to comment on this. It’s hard for me to speak out because I’m not yet at their level. I’m just a fan watching both players. So, I wish them both the best of luck,” the Barcelona and England winger concluded.
