Hajime Moriyasu: Japan Focused on Their Game, Not Opponent
In the second round of Group F at the 2026 World Cup, Japan delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over Tunisia, sharing the top spot in the group alongside the Netherlands.
Japan’s head coach Hajime Moriyasu reflected on the impressive performance of his team following the resounding win.
“We weren’t entirely sure what to expect from our opponents, but we didn’t fixate on them too much. Instead, we focused on preparing well for what we wanted to do and played aggressively,” Moriyasu explained.
During the preparations, the coaching staff clearly communicated the game plan, which allowed the players to perform at their highest level.
A large contingent of Japanese supporters traveled to Monterrey, singing the national anthem and cheering loudly throughout the match. Their enthusiastic backing provided a huge boost for the team,” Moriyasu added.
Looking ahead, Japan will face Sweden in the final group stage match. A draw in that game will guarantee Japan’s progression to the knockout rounds.
