England captain Harry Kane shared his thoughts on ITV following his team’s comprehensive victory over Croatia:
“It was an incredible match from start to finish. We agreed to play all 90 minutes with complete dominance both on and off the ball. England delivers its best football when we play freely and physically overwhelm the opposition in a Premier League style. The Croatians simply couldn’t keep up with our pace and the way we created openings.
Our attacking quartet operated with great freedom: each player can perform as both a number ten and a number nine, which makes it extremely difficult for opponents to mark us effectively. At the same time, when we lost possession, we immediately closed down the spaces. They just didn’t know who to mark or how to press us. We didn’t switch off during this long away trip; every player gave their maximum.”
