The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has officially announced the appointment of French coach Hervé Renard as the head of the national team. This marks his return to the role after 11 years; he previously managed the Elephants from 2014 to 2015 and led them to victory in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Renard replaces Émerson Fae, whose contract was not renewed following the 2026 World Cup. Ivory Coast reached the knockout stage for the first time but were eliminated in the round of 16 by Norway. Recently, Renard had a brief stint with the Tunisian national team during the same World Cup, stepping in mid-tournament after the sudden dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi.
The federation emphasizes that Renard’s appointment aims to build on the recent successes and assist in preparing the team for upcoming competitions, primarily the qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations. Renard is expected to arrive soon in Abidjan, a city he knows well.
