Juventus Strengthens Defense with Colombia’s World Cup Participant John Lucumi
Juventus has announced the signing of Colombian international defender John Lucumi from Bologna. The 28-year-old has committed to a contract running until the summer of 2030.
Lucumi developed through the youth ranks of Deportivo Cali, making his professional debut at 17 and immediately showcasing impressive character and physical strength on the pitch. In 2018, he transferred to Genk, where he established himself as a first-team regular and became one of the top defenders in the Belgian league. Since joining Bologna in 2022, the Colombian defender has appeared in a total of 152 matches over the past four seasons, including his Champions League debut, where he scored one of his two goals during that period. Juventus is signing a player currently at the peak of his abilities and ready to make an immediate impact for the team, according to the Turin club’s official statement.
It is also worth noting that Lucumi featured in five matches for the Colombia national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
