England midfielder Jordan Henderson has joined Chelsea on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with the London club.

The 36-year-old Henderson captained Liverpool to the Premier League title in the 2019/20 season. During his time at Anfield, he also lifted the Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

In 2023, Henderson moved to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq before joining Dutch side Ajax in January 2024. Last summer, he returned to the Premier League with Brentford, making 32 appearances in the English top flight during the 2025/26 season.

“Considering the stature of the club, coach Xabi Alonso, whom I greatly admire, and the quality of the players, this was a tremendous opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Henderson said.
