Rinat Akhmetov, President of FC Shakhtar, held a meeting with General Director Serhiy Palkin, Sporting Director Dario Srna, and Head Coach Arda Turan to discuss the team’s current preparations, potential squad reinforcements before the transfer window closes, and the key objectives ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign, according to the club’s official press service.
“We haven’t accomplished everything we planned yet, but we still have 17 days to do so. Ahead lies a challenging and crucial journey in the Ukrainian Premier League. My colleagues—the presidents of other clubs—have made significant efforts and strengthened their squads considerably, so I am convinced that the competition in the league will be extremely tough.
And in the Champions League, we are embarking on a wonderful journey. I am confident the players will thoroughly enjoy competing at the highest level. We will also be working with heightened intensity and, hopefully, together we will experience many positive emotions from good results,” Akhmetov said, as quoted by the club.
He also addressed the team’s head coach, Arda Turan:
“Arda, thank you very much for being here in our country. Like all Ukrainians, you wake up to rockets and bombs. You are an ambassador of the Turkish people. I know that Turkey supports us, the Turkish people support us, and President Erdogan supports us. I am convinced that Ukraine will achieve a just and lasting peace.”
