Kamensky: Ukraine U-19 Confident After Opening Euro Win Over Croatia
The Ukraine U-19 national team kicked off their European Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory over their Croatian counterparts. Midfielder Aleksandr Kamensky of Kryvbas, who played 79 minutes in the match, shared his thoughts on the game.
“I’m feeling really positive. It’s always great to start a tournament with a win and carry that momentum forward.
After conceding the goal, we actually got more fired up and realized that we could and should compete against this opponent. We began playing more aggressively and applied greater pressure on their goal, which helped us turn the match around.
I’d rate my performance as decent, although I know I didn’t get everything right—there were moments where I made mistakes. The first 15 minutes were tough, but once I found my rhythm, it became much easier. My connection with the teammates was good; we understood each other well.
A strong start like this boosts confidence and belief in our abilities. We clearly understood that we are capable, so we aim to keep attacking and push forward,” Kamensky said.
