Lothar Matthäus Calls for Julian Nagelsmann’s Removal as Germany Coach
Former Germany captain and record appearance holder Lothar Matthäus has delivered sharp criticism of the national team’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann.
Matthäus expressed doubts about the team’s future prospects under the 38-year-old manager following their disappointing performance at the World Cup, where Germany was eliminated in the round of 16 by Paraguay. He stated that he cannot see how the squad will progress with Nagelsmann at the helm and essentially called for a change in leadership.
He voiced his frustration with Nagelsmann’s tactical decisions and personnel choices, particularly regarding key players like Joshua Kimmich, who Matthäus believes should have been utilized in a completely different way. Matthäus also highlighted internal disagreements within the squad and a lack of a clear game plan, which he feels contributed to the disastrous results.
