Luis de la Fuente Reflects on Emotional Return to Sevilla Ahead of Croatia Clash
Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente shared his thoughts ahead of the second round UEFA Nations League clash against Croatia, a team from the city of Seville where he spent four seasons as a manager between 1987 and 1991.
“The strength of this team lies in our ability to adapt to different formations and styles of play without ever compromising our core principles. We have a reliable and strong squad that controls the flow of the match. Of course, Croatia will challenge us and they have their own opportunities. We know this opponent very well from recent encounters,” said the Furia Roja coach.
Returning to Seville always stirs special emotions for me. I spent a significant part of my career here. To the Luis de la Fuente who coached Sevilla’s youth team 25 years ago, I would say: ‘Don’t give up, keep following your path, and remain consistent.’ That perseverance is exactly what has brought me to where I am today,” added the Spain manager.
The match between Spain and Croatia is scheduled for today, October 29. Kickoff is set for 19:45 UTC.
