Luis Diaz Attributes Colombia’s World Cup Progress to Team Unity
Colombian national team star Luis Diaz expressed his emotions following his team’s advancement to the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup. In the first knockout match, the South Americans narrowly defeated Ghana 1-0.
“We haven’t achieved anything yet in this World Cup,” Diaz told ESPN. “These matches are very tough. Each one has been intense.”
He added, “It’s positive and encouraging that we are performing well and feeling comfortable. We are like one family—we work as a single team, and that will help us in the upcoming knockout matches.”
Looking ahead, Colombia will face Switzerland in the Round of 16. The winner of that encounter will then meet the victor of the Argentina versus Egypt tie.
