Luka Modrić Becomes Oldest World Cup Assist Provider at 40
Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić has added a new record to his World Cup legacy. In the third group stage match against Ghana, the 40-year-old playmaker provided an assist, helping his team secure a 2-1 victory.
With this achievement, the veteran of Milan became the oldest player in World Cup history to register an assist, setting the mark at 40 years and 291 days.
The former Ballon d’Or winner is currently in the final days of his contract with Milan, which is set to expire on Tuesday, June 30.
