Manchester United has completed its most frugal transfer window in the past 11 years, recording a net spend of just £44 million.

The last time the club posted such a modest net expenditure was back in 2015.

This summer, United strengthened their squad by signing André Santos and Youri Tielemans, while offloading Rasmus Højlund and Radek Vitek, resulting in the overall net spend of £44 million.

This conservative approach largely stems from the decision to secure a full contract with Michael Carrick, who opted to build around the core group that finished the previous season.
