Manzambi: First Career Brace, and at the World Cup!
Swiss wunderkind Johan Manzambi needed only two minutes to make his mark at the 2026 World Cup. Coming on as a substitute in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the youngest player of the Swiss national team instantly impressed by spectacularly scoring a volley to put his team ahead. In the 90th minute, Manzambi increased Switzerland’s lead to 3-0, completing a brace.
“Honestly, this is incredible – it’s the first brace of my career, and at the World Cup no less,” Manzambi said in an interview with FIFA. “Scoring two goals in front of the fans and my family is very, very pleasant. I think I won’t be able to sleep tonight.
Murath Yakin gave me some tactical and technical advice, then just told me to play my game.
For me, this is unbelievable. It’s a childhood dream! My goal was to score two goals at the World Cup – and now it has become a reality. But I hope to score more.
Is this the best day of my life? Yes, I think it is.”
