Lionel Messi’s first Instagram post following Argentina’s 3-1 victory over Jordan has taken the internet by storm.

Messi expressed a sense of unity after Argentina completed a flawless group stage campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, writing in his Instagram post: “Another win to finish the group stage. We are still together.”

This message came on the heels of another historic performance from the 39-year-old, who continues to rewrite World Cup records. He scored his trademark free-kick goal, becoming the all-time leading scorer in the tournament for goals scored from outside the penalty area.

Entering the match in the 60th minute, Messi netted Argentina’s third goal in the 80th minute, marking his sixth World Cup goal from outside the box and surpassing the longstanding record held by Brazilian legend Rivellino, who had five.

Additionally, Messi became the first player in football history to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches, adding yet another milestone to his illustrious international career. The Argentine captain also joined an elite group by becoming only the fourth player to score in all three group stage matches of a single World Cup since the current format was introduced in 1998, following Cristiano Ronaldo (2018), David Villa (2010), and Fernando Torres (2010).
