Napoli Completes £38 Million Transfer for Højlund from Manchester United
Napoli has confirmed that it will permanently buy forward Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United. The Italian club will activate the mandatory purchase clause for £38 million. The Dane joined the Neapolitan club last summer on loan after an unsuccessful spell in England, where he scored only 26 goals in 95 matches. In Italy, the 23-year-old striker has blossomed, scoring 11 goals in Serie A.
“We have a mandatory purchase obligation with Manchester United in case of qualifying for the Champions League, but he is part of our plans regardless of this condition,” the Neapolitans said in an official statement.
Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has already called the sale of the Dane a mistake by the English club.
