Netherlands Exit World Cup Again Without Losing in Regular Time
The Netherlands have made history in football by becoming the first team to be eliminated from three consecutive World Cups they participated in without losing a single match in regular or extra time.
Over the past 12 years, the Dutch side has not suffered a defeat in normal or extra time at the World Cup, neither in the group stage nor in the knockout rounds. Their only losses came via penalty shootouts: in the 2014 World Cup semifinal against Argentina (0-0, 2-4 on penalties), in the 2022 quarterfinals also against Argentina (2-2, 3-4 on penalties), and now against Morocco (1-1, 2-3 on penalties).
The last time the Netherlands lost a World Cup match in regular time was in 2006, when they were defeated 0-1 by Portugal in the round of 16.
