In Quito, the Ecuadorian capital, local side LDU defeated Palmeiras 3-2, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3. However, the Brazilian team prevailed 4-3 in the penalty shootout to move on to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes clinched a 1-0 away victory against Corinthians thanks to an 86th-minute goal by Alexis Castro, advancing with a 2-1 aggregate score. Palmeiras will face Fluminense in the semifinals, while Estudiantes awaits the winner of the Flamengo versus Independiente del Valle tie. The semifinal matches are scheduled for October.
