Panama Players Involved in Altercation Ahead of England World Cup Match
Panama’s preparations for their World Cup match against England on Saturday have been overshadowed by internal turmoil. The Central American side, already eliminated from the knockout stages after back-to-back defeats, is experiencing tension within the squad.
During an open training session at MetLife Stadium, a heated altercation erupted between Cecilio Waterman and Jose Luis Rodriguez. Waterman shoved his teammate in the chest, prompting other players to intervene and restrain the agitated forward, according to ESPN.
Panama will conclude their Group L campaign facing Thomas Tuchel’s England. This will be the second World Cup meeting between the two teams—back in 2018, England thrashed Panama 6-0. Since then, the visitors have improved, currently ranked 42nd in the FIFA rankings, narrowly trailing Ghana and Croatia by just one point, 0-1.
