Polesie Newcomer Leandro Andrade Commits to Learning Ukrainian Within Month
New signing Leandro Andrade has given his first interview as a player for Polissya Zhytomyr. The Cape Verde international previously played for Azerbaijani club Qarabağ.
“I’m very inspired to be here and extremely happy about it. I had been eagerly awaiting the moment I could arrive and meet my new teammates. I already have a good sense of how things work here. I’ve heard that the atmosphere and team spirit are excellent. That’s exactly what I was looking for, so I’m very pleased to be part of this club.
As a player, I was searching for a project and a team with ambitions to win and play attractive football. That’s what I found at Polissya. I know what I’m talking about because I’ve already watched highlights from last season’s matches. The club showed a strong desire to have me here, so I will respond with even greater determination to perform. I feel this season will be an exciting one.
Did I say I would learn Ukrainian in a month? Let me tell you something about myself. When I played in Bulgaria, I really liked the sound of the language when I first heard it. So I put a lot of effort into learning it and eventually became able to speak Bulgarian. What I’ve learned of Ukrainian so far tells me it’s a very beautiful language. I look forward to studying it and hope to pick it up quickly. It’s important for me to communicate with my teammates, coaches, and staff.
I won’t promise to decide the outcome of every match, but I do promise to give my utmost effort to influence the results. You can be absolutely sure of that. I will show everything Leandro Andrade is capable of,” the player said in an interview with Polissya’s press service.
