Porto Secures 25th Portuguese Super Cup with Narrow Win Over Torrense
FC Porto kicked off their new official season by securing another trophy. The reigning national champions edged out Torrense 1-0 in the final of the Portuguese Super Cup.
The decisive and only goal of the match, held in Coimbra, was scored by Victor Froholdt. This strike delivered the 25th Super Cup title in the club’s history under the guidance of coach Francesco Farioli.
Torrense, a modest team that caused a sensation last season by winning the national cup, fell short of claiming the trophy. However, the second-division side is set to make a historic debut in the Europa League this September. Meanwhile, Porto will begin their league campaign on August 9 with a home fixture against Alverca.
