Former Shakhtar and Mariupol defender Mark Mampassi has signed a contract with Rosenborg. The Norwegian club secured the 23-year-old player’s services until the end of the 2029 season.
Born in Donetsk, Mark Mampassi is a product of the Shakhtar Academy, having been with the club since 2010. He won Ukrainian championships with Shakhtar’s U15 team in 2018 and U16 team in 2019, and was called up to the country’s youth national teams. In the Ukrainian Premier League, he played for Mariupol, making 16 appearances during the 2020-2021 seasons.
At the end of 2021, Mampassi transferred to Lokomotiv Moscow and changed his citizenship from Ukrainian to Russian. Despite the outbreak of the full-scale war, he continued to play for the Moscow club.
Mampassi joined Rosenborg as a free agent after Lokomotiv announced the termination of their contract with him on July 31. Rosenborg referred to him as a “Ukrainian defender” in their official player presentation.
“I don’t like to talk much about myself, but I can say that I am a physically strong player. I enjoy engaging in physical duels and using my speed. I consider myself an aggressive player, which is how defenders should be. I hope to demonstrate this in training and matches for Rosenborg. My goal is to contribute to improving Rosenborg’s play and to make the fans proud,” Mampassi said.
