Rudi Völler: Germany Focused on Paraguay, Not France
Germany’s national team manager, Rudi Völler, reflected on his squad’s performance during the group stage and looked ahead to their upcoming knockout match against Paraguay, scheduled for June 30.
“I am completely calm and relaxed. The team will give everything they’ve got on Monday,” Völler stated. “The circumstances against Ecuador were different. For them, that was the most important game in 20 to 30 years. We always aim to win, but it’s perfectly normal to ease off a bit when you’ve already qualified for the next round. On Monday, everything will be different. It’s about advancing or going home. We’ll push ourselves to the limit, play a really good game, and secure our place in the next round.”
When asked about a potential Round of 16 clash with France, he said, “Overall, France is definitely among the main favorites. But right now, we aren’t thinking about that. On Monday, we face Paraguay, and our focus is on moving forward—that’s our primary goal.”
