Argentina’s head coach Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that the team is providing full moral support to captain Lionel Messi following reports about the serious illness of his father.
“This is a group that goes through all kinds of circumstances, both positive and negative. When you have friends around, it’s easier to get through such moments and better to share them. That feeling is present in all of us. I believe he senses it too, as he himself has said. Honestly, I have nothing more to add,” Scaloni told TyC Sports.
Earlier, journalist Florencia Peña from Luzu TV issued an apology to Messi for spreading false information about his father’s death. According to the channel, Peña resigned from her position, and other staff members involved in producing the broadcast were also dismissed. Luzu TV has sent an official apology to the footballer’s family.
