According to journalist Igor Burbas, Shakhtar Donetsk has officially withdrawn from negotiations to sign the South American player Alan Matturro. For several weeks, the club attempted to secure the 21-year-old on loan with an option to buy, but ultimately failed to reach an agreement with Genoa.
The left-footed central defender was considered as potential competition for Shakhtar captain Nikolay Matvienko.
“As far as I know, no deal was reached with Genoa on the terms, so the transfer will not happen,” Burbas wrote on his Telegram channel.
Matturro hails from Montevideo. He began his career at Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting and has been capped at the U15 and U20 levels for his country. In 2023, Genoa acquired him for €3 million. His current market value on Transfermarkt stands at €4 million.
