Thomas Tuchel Criticizes Water Breaks for Disrupting Football’s Flow
England national team head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his disapproval of the water breaks introduced during World Cup matches.
“I believe they disrupt and alter the fundamental nature of the football match more than I initially thought. I’ve experienced water breaks before when it was genuinely hot, and they were necessary, but those breaks were shorter and only occurred in certain games. Here, they happen in every match for both teams. It essentially divides the game into quarters. I think this changes the dynamics of the match more than I expected,” Tuchel told BBC.
Many analysts argue that the primary reason for including water breaks in the competition regulations is to create opportunities for advertising slots.
