The Group F match between Japan and Tunisia at the Monterrey stadium will mark a historic milestone. This fixture represents the 1,000th game played in the final stages of the FIFA World Cup since the tournament’s inception in 1930. This landmark comes during the largest-ever World Cup, which has expanded to include 48 teams.
Japan enters this encounter following a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands. Tunisia, on the other hand, are looking to recover after a heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden. The African side will be under new leadership for this match, with Hervé Renard appointed as head coach earlier this week, replacing Sabri Lamouchi. The French coach emphasized that discipline and teamwork will be crucial to turning Tunisia’s fortunes around in the tournament.
The Tunisia vs. Japan World Cup 2026 match is scheduled for 21 June, with kickoff set for 07:00 UTC.
