Turkey’s Football Federation Confirms Support for Coach Montella After World Cup Setbacks
The President of the Turkish Football Federation, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, spoke out following Turkey’s disappointing performance at the World Cup, expressing his continued support for head coach Vincenzo Montella.
“We stand behind our coach. This is not a club team. Often, failures come due to a lack of stability at the club level. For two days now, different coaches’ names have been circulating, but we will not replace those who share our vision with those we happen to meet along the way. The coach can be criticized tactically, but not for the ball narrowly missing the post. There is always something positive to take from any negative event, so we will keep looking forward,” Hacıosmanoğlu said, as reported by A Spor.
Turkey’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stage were dashed after just two group matches, following defeats to Australia (0-2) and Paraguay (0-1).
