Turkish footballer Tolga Kalender passed away today at the age of 25. His funeral took place the same day in Adana.
Kalender played primarily as a central and full-back defender for Bandırmaspor in Turkey’s second division. Previously, he represented Adana Demirspor and Istanbul Başakşehir in the Süper Lig. Both his club and the Turkish Football Federation have expressed their deep condolences over his untimely death.
The exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed. According to Turkish media reports, Kalender had been seriously ill and was undergoing treatment in hospital for an extended period. Earlier, he suffered an eye injury that sidelined him from playing since February. Some sources have speculated about a possible cancer diagnosis or post-surgical complications, but no official confirmation has been provided.
